Another shoot senior year I tagged along for was Maureen Bonsignore’s shoot in downtown Burlington. Maureen wanted to do the shoot run and gun style because the gallery we were shooting at had a lot of restrictions and for that reason the shoot did not go expected. Upon arrival we were told we could not go inside because a field trip was coming. So quickly Maureen’s mind worked to produce a reasonable alternative (which she is incredibly good at doing might I add). We ended up shooting the scene entirely outside with a majority of the scene behind the art gallery, and it worked quite well.
I went to a local sub shop (KKD for those that know the area) before the shoot and we used the aluminum foil wrapper from my sub (Rise and Shiner, also in case you are a local) as a bounce. We did not have a rail system for our matte box so ND filters were held in front of the lens to get the shallow depth of field we wanted in the scene. We looked like a bunch of amateurs but it was certainly a fun learning experience.
